The Stables and the Barn
The building which currently houses the infamous and popular Church Street gay bars, the Stables and the Barn, has had many reincarnations over the years since its days as a saloon and convenience store in 1888. It mad its introduction into the music scene in the early 1970s as Toronto's first discotheque, La Connection.
In 1977, when the current owner purchased the building, it housed La Cavalier, a steakhouse and an upstairs bar, Jojo. Jojo bcame a gay bar and La Cavalier was close ...
